Arm Lift Before & After Case 135
Provider: Thomas M. Hagopian MD
Procedures Performed Lipedema Surgery, Arm Lift
Patient Age 62
Patient Gender Female
Race White
This active 62-year-old woman came to us seeking an arm lift to improve the contour of her upper arms. She struggled with excess skin and persistent volume, which often made it challenging to find comfortable clothing. Her primary motivation was to feel more confident in short-sleeved garments and to keep up with her children in her day-to-day routine. She had also been diagnosed with lipedema, which contributed to her difficulties achieving the results she wanted through exercise alone.
We performed an extended brachioplasty using a lymphatic-sparing avulsion technique. This approach allowed us to address both sagging skin and the disproportionate fat associated with lipedema, while preserving important lymphatic structures. Our patient followed a personalized recovery plan that included close monitoring and physical activity moderation.
Her outcome reflects her goals: slimmer, more proportional arms and a better fit in her clothing. She has reported increased comfort and ease in her movements, which supports her active lifestyle.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon in Atlanta, I emphasize individualized care and minimally invasive techniques when possible. My background in emergency medical services and my training at leading institutions shape my commitment to safety and patient education. At our practice, we prioritize open communication to help each patient make informed decisions about procedures like arm lifts and lipedema surgery.
