A Brazilian butt lift is a plastic surgery procedure that transfers fat to the buttocks to create a rounder, more lifted shape. Dr. Hagopian performs this as an outpatient procedure while you are under general anesthesia. He harvests fat from a targeted area (often the abdomen) via SAFELipo®, processes it, and then injects it above the gluteal muscles to give the buttocks a fuller and shapelier appearance.
Who Is a Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?
An ideal Brazilian butt lift candidate is someone in good general health who has enough fat in donor areas to transfer to the buttocks to create their ideal look. You’ll also enjoy your best and longest-lasting results if you have the procedure done while you are at or near a stable goal weight.

Most people return to desk work after about 2 weeks. However, you’ll need to avoid sitting or lying directly on your backside for at least 2 to 4 weeks. This prevents your results from becoming misshapen and makes sure as much fat as possible remains in the buttocks.
Not all the volume you see directly after your surgery will last. Typically about 60-80% of the grafted fat cells survive, so you’ll notice a slight decrease in size over the initial weeks of your recovery. It may take up to 6 months for any lingering swelling to subside and for you to see your final results.
Will I Have Scars After a Brazilian Butt Lift?
You will have a very small incision where Dr. Hagopian inserts the cannula to perform liposuction. Once healed, these scars are typically barely visible. Because Dr. Hagopian injects the processed fat into your buttocks, you shouldn’t have any visible scarring in that area.
How Long Do Brazilian Butt Lift Results Last?
As long as you avoid any major weight fluctuations in the future, your results should last indefinitely.
